Our inspector (Phil Hallinan IN PS 70605) will work with you to ensure your swimming pool or spa barrier is safe, functional and compliant. You will be provided with your compliance certificate (Form 23) to lodge with your local council once your pool area is deemed compliant
Once your swimming pool or spa is registered, you will be required to obtain and lodge a compliance certificate for your pool fence/safety barrier with your local council.
Each pool inspection ensures safety barriers are correctly installed, in good working order and any potential hazards are removed. Typically all barriers are checked to see if they are the correct height, fit for purpose and non climbable. All gates are inspected to see if they are self closing and self latching, fence heights including boundary fences are checked. Other items that may require inspection include any windows or doors that allow access to the pool area, retaining walls and balconies. Your pool barrier inspection ensures your pool barrier is safe and complies with the relevant Australian Standards.
After each inspection we will discuss the inspection with you and provide you with a comprehensive report.
Following our inspection, if we determine that your pool barrier is compliant with the relevant standard specified by your local council, you will be issued with a barrier compliance certificate ( Form 23 ). You are then required to lodge the certificate with council within 30 days.
If there are some aspects of your barrier that require adjustment or modification these will be highlighted clearly in your report and you will be given additional time to address the issue before we can confirm your barrier compliance and issue your certificate.
1. Register your swimming pool or spa with your local council
2. You can complete your own pre compliance check. Download the checklist that corresponds to your pool build date from the Victorian Building Authority (VBA) website or via the links below.
Note: The Standard your pool needs to comply to depends on the year it was built or modified. This will be stated on a letter you receive from your local council.
Checklist 1 - Pools built prior to 8 April 1991
Checklist 2 - Pools built between 8 April 1991 and 30 April 2010
Checklist 3 - Pools built from 1 May 2010
